a portal to food heaven: London's portobello road market, in photos
Coincidentally, both times I’ve been to London in the past few years I’ve ended up staying in the Notting Hill area. Not only is this area filled with beautiful, extremely instagrammable pastel-colored houses, but it’s also home to the Portobello Road Market. I love it, not only because it’s technically open from Monday to Saturday, but mostly because of all the goodies you can find there. I’ve decorated pretty much half of the walls of my room with vintage prints I’ve found there. But of course, my favorite part of anything is the food, and Portobello Market really delivers. I mean, the photos I took truly do not do it justice.
Fun fact: I had one of the jam and cream splits, and honestly, I firmly believe all donuts should be hot dog bun-shaped. A true innovation. Also, who knew cream, jam, and a fluffy donut made for such a simple yet amazing combination?
I actually tried these chorizo sausages and onions. You can’t really go wrong with such a classic combination, so unsurprisingly, these gently spicy sausage and slightly caramelized sauteed onions were pretty tasty.
Just look at these beauties. Obviously, in this case you should absolutely judge by appearance, as these churros were very testy, especially since they were fried right before our eyes.
Pure sugary, fluffy, fried goodness. You can really tell from my food preferences I’m American.
